ACTION is an international partnership of civil society advocates working to mobilize resources to treat and prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB), a global disease that kills one person every 20 seconds.
With effective advocacy and greater political will, rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic. That is why ACTION's mission is to build support for increased resources for effective TB control, especially among key policymakers and other leaders in both high TB-burden and donor countries.
Since the partnership formed in 2004, ACTION partners have achieved numerous successes and made vast progress towards eradicating TB. In fact, ACTION partners in donor countries have been instrumental in mobilizing more than $1 billion in new contributions to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria since 2007.
Given these successes in creating awareness and mobilizing resources for global TB control, in early 2011, ACTION began advocacy to expand coverage of new and basic vaccines for children. By working with many of the same partners, our new vaccine portfolio leverages our existing strong international partnership and proven advocacy strategies to distribute life-saving vaccines and resources to the world's most vulnerable.
Our first advocacy success in childhood immunizations was our quick action to educate leaders in our partner countries about the critical opportunity to invest in the GAVI Alliance's replenishment in June 2011. In total, this advocacy helped secure pledges to GAVI that actually exceeded the original target of $3.7 billion coming in at $4.3 billion - with $2.4 billion in pledges from ACTION partner countries!
We are excited about our influence on global public health and to work with stakeholders toward life-saving interventions and to end unnecessary suffering and death.
We have a great deal of work to do - we hope that you will take ACTION with us!

ACTION is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other donors.
